The Story Thus Far

Year 2015 - Growing Darkness

With the Middle East crisis expanding and threats of nuclear attack from both Iran and North Korea, the US takes drastic action. Against orders from the UN, the US launches preemptive attacks into both Iran and North Korea, as well as force drafting tens of thousands of soldiers. Weapons were urged into immediate production, and new  technologies for warfare were developed. As Iran and North Korea fell under the strength of arms of America, other nations protested against these actions. China mobilized its ground forces and the European nations armed themselves for war. In response to these weapons, the US broke the last thread: It launched nuclear warheads. Both China and the European Nations fired their own missiles with this turn of events, the whole world now fearing the apocalypse. The US had expected it, though, and activated their anti-warhead laser systems, disabling the enemy nukes before they could even come close to the shores ofo the states. The world shook as the first volley of warheads hit their targets. Every busy city in China had been obliterated, while most European nations were thrown into anarchy as their capitals fell. The peoples of the world could only watch as they saw the horrors of what the US could do.

Year 2034 - Dark Revolution

The Middle East had finally run out of crude oil. The price of fuel in the US skyrocketed, and angry protests sparked. Riot police were sent and beat them down, but the government knew of the brewing dissent. With no advance in fuel alternatives, the pit the US had dug itself into would just keep getting deeper, though the conditions of other nations were even worse. With the decline of any imports, Africa's population slowly died off. Eastern Europe and Western China were both nuclear wastelands, while Mexico's lands had been beaten back by western extremists. Even Canada had begun to falter under this new dark age. However, the immediate attention was to that of the US's. The federal government could no longer take the strain, and it crumbled under the weight of 50 states. The strength of local governments grew, supported by large corporations, which supplied them with weapons and equipment, in turn reducing their taxings. These corporations began to take advantage of the situation, oppressing many citizens and controlling almost every part of their lives.

Year 2051 - Corporation Nation

Five major corporations now controlled most of the US. The East Coast was bonded together through the Atlantic Trading Company, excluding Maine as it had befallen the same fate as Canada. Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi were now grouped by the Dathren Industries. The midwest was supported by a company known as the - - - - [To be continued...]

Year 2121 - Grand Reforming

[Corporations are defeated under new government, look to space to have more resources]

Year 2190 - The Beginning of the End

As the ability to create long-distance spacecraft bloomed, the human race spread out among the stars. Even after the initial colonization, the new frontiers looked as if they would never stop expanding. Thousands of planets became united under humanity. But all things were not going well. The government's strength was beginning to crumple, and they could not show it. A law was passed to stop the expansion, but the colonial citizens simply did not comply. The government took a harsh stand. They enlisted troops from every planet, and trained a special few to be elites. In massive warships, they destroyed every new colony they came across. Rebellion spread like wildfire through the fledgling nations of man. A massive civil war ensued. Colonials against Loyalists, the conflict lasted for hundreds of years. In the end, the Loyalists finally destroyed the last stand of the Colonials.

Year 2520 - A New Enemy

The colonization period ended there. A new era had dawned. The government reformed under a senate, and only a senate. A special council was given emergency power in case of a new war. They named themselves the "Novus Terrae Res Publica," or the New Terran Republic. By now, only a few hundred planets remained under the strict rule of the Republic. Ever since the great conflict, though, many citizens had sought to escape. One unfortunate vessel ventured too far from the core planets of the Republic, and had put its crew to hibernation. It made its long and solemn journey across the blackness until it reached the outer fringe planets. Its fate was sealed. The ship landed, as commanded by its automaton. However, a malfunction occured and the passengers were never woken from their sleep. An infestation crawled through the cargo barge, rooting itself deep into the ship. In just a few years, it had learned to launch the ship again. The cargo barge took to the stars, and began its unimpeded journey back to the Republic with its deadly payload.

Year 2745 - Seeds of the Apocalypse

The ship arrived a few hundred years later. It landed on a busy port world, Mercantoris, where goods constantly traveled in and out. The barge crash landed, smashing into the center of the city. As locals went to investigate the devastated wreck, xenoforms crawled out and destroyed the reconnoisance force. The hive then deeply rooted itself within the cavern the ship had plowed into the city, sending its drones and soldiers daily to collect food and materials for its ever-growing hunger. New breeds of aliens appeared as they assimilated local fauna into their broods. For months the alien plague spread, until Terran relief forces came. By then, though, they were no match for the xenoforms. A new panic spread through the whole network of planets, and the Terran Republic urged them to always have a standing militia force. The advice was taken eagerly, as all planets armed themself for the "alien" threat. Republic training grounds filled themselves with eager draftees, and factories quickly pumped out vehicles to supply the demand.

Year 2746 - Emminent Destruction

Tens of planets fell to the aliens within just a few months after the first hive finished its domination. Terran forces rushed to defend their fellow humans, but often times when they arrived, there was nothing there but devastated ruins. They could do nothing but bombard the planet from the stars to trunicate the expansion of the
alien hives. During this time, it was found that the aliens communicated through a telepathic link between the matriarch aliens and the underlings. With this new understanding, the Terran forces tried jamming the signals but to no avail. More planets fell under the aliens swarming claws. In desperation, the New Terran Republic
struggled to attain new technologies to help defeat the alien menace.

Year 2973 - Breaking the Limits

One of the technologies that was the most succesful was one dubbed, "The Advanced Human Genome Manipulation Project." Starting on 11 planets far from the core of Terran-controlled planets, it was lead by Dr. Mortus Inferro. Over several years, the doctor and his team tweaked with the genes of the populace of the 11
planets. As time grew on, the populations looked less and less human and more like war machines. Eventually going onto physically modifying them, his latest experiment grew out of control. Metal implants that actually grew from the skin, almost becoming part of the test subjects. One of these subjects, Test Subject 39, Finol Ultionis, led the people of his country in a massive rebellion. Taking to arms, they turned on their creators. While Ultionis was killed in the uprising, the Advanced Human Genome Manipulation Project was abandoned and the scientists fled back to the safety of the Republic. In the years after, the planets degraded with the loss of communication with
the rest of the Terran Republic, while on the Republic side, they had deemed that the 11 planets were off-limits and were quaranteened.

Year 2992 - The Final Act

The xenoforms were pushing the Terran frontlines all the way back to the point that the humans only controlled a hundred or so planets. The unrelenting hive forces were rampant and could not be stopped. To make matters worse, unknown fleets had been pushing in from the "Lost 11." Their banner eagerly displayed their allegiance: The Brothers of Ultionis. The cyborg's weapons were crude reproductions of the weapons tested on the 11 planets lost in the experiment, some even becoming attachments of the cyborgs themselves. To this plight, more planets fell from the reach of the Terran Republic. This is a dark time for humanity. This is the time... of Absolute Singularity. Will you play as the proud marine legions, and defend humanity from the evil invaders? Will you play as the fierce alien hordes, and feed upon the brimming life of the Terran planets? Or will you play as the vengeful cyborg armies, and destroy them for their attrocities to your people?
